HISTORY

The Company Ellwoods Poultry Limited (EPNE) was formed in 1954 by Mr T W Ellwood.  In 1985 three new directors were appointed from within the company namely; Mr D W Ellwood, Mr T A Ellwood, Mr G M P Brunell.

The business went from strength to strength and it was decided in 1991 that it had outstripped the capacity of its current premises in Barnard Castle, and new premises were sought.  In 1992 the company moved to a new purpose built freehold building in Washington. 

The Company now headed by Chairman D W Ellwood, son of the company’s founder T W Ellwood supplies poultry, lamb, beef, seafood and frozen vegetables to restaurants, takeaways, butchers and caterers.  The company is on a continuous drive to expand its product range and increase its customer base utilising its excellent delivery service and products.  The Company has since acquired a similar but smaller business in Tunbridge Wells which is in the process of moving to larger premises.
